Kerala set to become a 100% Aadhaar State

Kerala is on its way to be declared the first state to achieve 100% Aadhaar card registration.
Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM), the nodal agency for implementation of the Aadhaar project, is hoping to declare the state as 100% Aadhaar-covered on January 30 in Kochi at the 17th national conference on e-governance, said KSITM director P Bala Kiran.
The total population of Kerala is 3.33 crore and more than 3.1 crore have enrolled for Aadhaar seeding. “Aadhaar cards have been generated for 2.97 crore people which amounts to almost 90% of the state’s population. The remaining 10%, who may not have enrolled for the programme, are likely to be children aged below eight and senior citizens above 85,” he said.
Data available with the IT Mission show that less than three lakh people of the total 3.33 crore are yet to enroll under the project. This number is believed to be achievable before the month-end declaration. District-wise break-up reveals that Pathanamthitta and Wayanad, part of Aadhaar pilot project in Kerala, have topped the enrollment chart.
