Congress' Manifesto for Gujarat

Gujarat Congress chief Arjun Modhwadia along with Delhi chief minister Sheila Dixit said if elected to power, the party will provide an additional six LPG cylinders at subsidized rates — the UPA government had put a cap of six cylinders on subsidized cylinders.
The election manifesto mainly included the 12-point agenda that were declared in the run up to the state assembly elections with the most popular poll promise being ‘Ghar nu Ghar’ for women in urban areas.
“We have received 17 lakh applications under the ‘Ghar nu Ghar’ scheme. If elected to power, we will build homes for all of these 17 lakh applicants,” said Modhwadia. Rural women will be allotted 100 square yard plots, he said. Congress has promised 10 lakh new power connections to the farmers, which will be provided under a special act. Every citizen of the state will get medical cover up to Rs 2 lakh.
Congress also stuck to appeasing its core vote bank of minorities, tribals and other backward castes as it announced special scholarships to youths belonging to these communities. Plus, special subsidies have also been announced for the SC, ST and OBC and minority communities.
Congress also promised that the sixth pay commission will be implemented in its complete spirit in a bid to win over government employees who were on war path with the Modi government over this issue.
Terming chief minister Narendra Modi’s claims of impressive development as “blatant lies” and “misleading”, Congress leaders announced a slew of measures, which, it said, would ensure development of common people, and not merely afew industrialists.
