Housing for low income groups

Pune-based real estate firm, Avinash Bhosale Infrastructure (ABIL), plans to develop 10,000 flats at an investment of Rs 400 crore for people of low-income groups."As part of our corporate social responsibility, the ABIL Group will launch mass housing schemes for the lower income groups”, Sudhanshu Purohit, chief executive officer of ABIL Group said. The flats, ranging from 375 sq ft to 450 sq ft, are targeted at workers employed in the nearby factories."The project is the brain child of ABIL chairman Avinash Bhosale, who will personally supervise the entire project," Purohit said. "The mass housing project will be built on a no-profit-no-loss basis", he added.
The Rs 2,500-crore company, engaged in construction of dams, barrages, tunnels, lift irrigation schemes, highways and bridges on a turnkey basis, has identified 50 acres of land at the fast developing Talegaon region, home to a cluster of multinational companies and manufacturing industries. These apartments will have 1 and 2BHKs and will cost between Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh."Since it is aimed at workers engaged in various industries, the company would reduce this price if we manage to get the land at cheap rate or government incentives,” Purohit said. The project, which would commence in six months, would be com pleted in about four years in phases. The mass housing project is conceived as part of its soon-to-be-launched ABIL Foundation, which plans to rope in luminaries in industries and educationists to work for the welfare of the needy. At present, thousands of workers employed in various industries in and around Talegaon travel by bus or train from their villages to reach their work place. Once the project comes up, it would save more than two hours of their travel time. Purohit said the construction plan includes affordability principle and therefore, the four-floor cluster of buildings would not have elevators. Ten clusters with each cluster spread over five acres of land would have 1,000 flats. Each cluster will have 10-12 buildings
