BRTS has its first run in PCMC limits

The first Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) bus service was launched on an experimental basis on the Nigdi-Dapodi stretch of the highway in Pimpri-Chinchwad .Aziz Karche, joint managing director, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) said that the PMPML will first consider the response it receives and then start the service on a full-fledged basis. The old Pune-Mumbai highway is one of the busiest roads in the township. “Initially, four CNG buses will run on the route. We plan to increase the strength of the buses to eight later,” said Karche. “After we get feedback from the common man and those working with the BRTS service, we will made changes as per their suggestions and make the system foolproof,” said Karche. The CNG buses will have to fill gas at the filling station at Warje Malwadi as the Chikhli filling station is still not ready. “Work is expected to be completed in two to four days and the CNG buses will then start getting fuel at Chikhli.”
