Shirdi Airport Update

The Maharashtra government has appointed Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) as the special purpose vehicle to develop a greenfield airport at the pilgrim place of Shirdi in Ahmednagar district. The state cabinet also approved a state equity of Rs 264 crore in the said airport project which MADC will develop through the publicprivate partnership (PPP). The airport would be developed over 400 hectares of private land at village Kakdi which is 15 km from Shirdi. MADC has also been named the designated authority to acquire 400 hectares of land and the state government has authorised Ahmednagar district collector for the land acquisition purpose.
