Goa approves a new Airport

The Goa government has approved the development of a greenfield airport at Mopa in north Goa, near the Maharashtra-Goa border. Land acquisition will begin soon. Goa has one airport at Dabolim in south Goa, some 30 km from capital Panjim. Primarily a defence airport, it is also used for civilian purposes, handling international and domestic chartered flights. While the airport ownership is with the Navy, capital expenditure for the airport upgrade is met by Airports Authority of India.
