Delhi on Track

The nation’s political capital Delhi is gradually becoming the preferred city, both for the uber rich and the burgeoning middle class families. And if urban experts are to be believed, the cities which accommodate aspirations of both the rich and the poor will finally emerge as the city of the future. Delhi has it to be the city of the future because no other city has been investing so much in transport and urban infrastructure. Mass transportation system is the need of the hour, and the cities focusing on that will emerge winners. Bangalore has got a good response because of IT, but it will lose out as it has not made substantial investments in urban transport.Though the Delhi’s BRTS invited a lot of criticism, urban experts prefer such mass transport modes over the use of private vehicles. Delhi Metro, however, is widely acclaimed both by experts and the common man as it has been instrumental in taking away a lot of load from the city’s prime space. On the flip side, the power ,water and affordable housing situation is a major concern for the city.
